TORONTO, Nov. 25, 2014 /CNW/ - Results of a survey that measures the level of security and safety experienced by those who work inside Ontario's provincial courthouses will be released to the public at a Queen's Park news conference on Nov. 26.
The survey of respondents from the Ministry of the Attorney General is believed to be the first of its kind by either the ministry or the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), which conducted the survey and which represents those who work inside provincial courthouses.
The survey was conducted a month after an armed man entered the provincial court building in Brampton on March 28. A police officer was shot and critically injured. The assailant was shot dead by police moments later.
The report measures the level of safety and security inside courthouses and makes 17 recommendations for improvements.
