OTTAWA, July 28, 2016 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, along with Dr. Mark Kristmanson, Chief Executive Officer of the National Capital Commission (NCC), will officially mark the beginning of the rehabilitation work that will be undertaken in front of Rideau Hall, on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 1:30 p.m.
The Governor General and Dr. Kristmanson will deliver remarks on this occasion. In the build-up to the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, the NCC will rehabilitate the forecourt of the official residence and workplace of the governor general. Rideau Hall will remain open to the public during construction, which is expected to be completed by the spring of 2017. The NCC, a federal Crown corporation, is the planner of the Capital and the steward of Rideau Hall and the other five official residences in the Capital Region.
