Feeding Our Future is Canada's largest summer lunch program. Throughout July and August, a virtual army of private sector volunteers are preparing and delivering free lunches on a daily basis for underprivileged kids attending subsidized summer camps. |
The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation Feeding Our Future initiative is expected to serve 40,000 lunches locally in the GTA and 135,000 lunches at summer camps across Canada. |
This program launched in Toronto in 2001 to help solve a significant social and health problem. Across Canada, an estimated one million children depend on school lunch programs. When schools close for the summer holidays, many of these children are left to fend for themselves. |
Since its inception, Feeding Our Future has grown into a national movement aimed at providing underprivileged children with a nutritious lunch. The program's thousands of volunteers have prepared more than a million meals. |
