/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - 'Strong Girls Strong Women' event shows girls the breadth of career possibilities/

TORONTO, March 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Girls from several Toronto-area elementary and middle schools are converging at Centennial College's Progress Campus on Tuesday, March 5 to participate in interactive sessions and activities designed to explore non-traditional career paths for young women.

Two hundred girls aged 9 to 14 will have a chance to "walk the red carpet" and check out media careers, change tires on a Smart car, draw blood from a synthetic patient's arm, learn self defence, check out the inner workings of a helicopter, try out a CAD/CAM system, play with a robot, and more.

Centennial College President Ann Buller will be welcoming the young participants at 10:30 am, before the girls break out into the different activity zones. The Strong Girls Strong Women symposium is taking place at the Progress Campus Student Centre and adjoining Athletic and Wellness Centre from 10:30 am to 2 pm tomorrow.
