TORONTO, May 15, 2013 /CNW/ - Close to 200 women will join together to launch Habitat for Humanity Toronto's 2013 Women Build campaign at Cambria Studio on Thursday, May 16th, 2013. Women Build Ambassadors Mag Ruffman, Jennifer Valentyne, and Her Honour Ruth Ann Onley will perform an original song to kick start the $1 million campaign leading to the Women Build Blitz slated for September 18th to 28th. The Blitz is expected to unite over 1,000 Toronto women to build six semi-detached homes on Acme Crescent for over 35 men, women and children. Canadian singer-songwriter Kai will close the Launch event reinforcing the importance of female empowerment and solidarity.
"The Women Build movement has a long history at Habitat for Humanity - not just in Toronto, but at Habitat affiliates worldwide, " says Habitat for Humanity Toronto's newly-appointed CEO Ene Underwood.
