/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory - Unifor advises Canadian negotiating team at NAFTA talks/
WASHINGTON, Aug. 19, 2017 /CNW/ - Unifor, Canada's largest union in the private sector, is advising the Canadian negotiating team as NAFTA talks continue this weekend in Washington, D.C.
"Unifor represents members in every key economic sector, and it was these workers who paid the price for the last NAFTA accord," said Unifor National President Jerry Dias from Washington. "Our union has a first-hand understanding of the issues and is well aware of the pitfalls, we're here to share that experience with the Canadian negotiating team."
Unifor has played an active role in the lead up to the negotiations. Dias has already met with U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross twice to press Unifor's case that any new NAFTA must address the needs of workers and their communities.
