ÉTS and McGill team up to establish an ecosystem for creativity in the heart of Montreal
MONTREAL, May 9, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Representatives from the City of Montreal and from the provincial and federal governments, along with a host of personalities from the academic, artistic, cultural and business communities, will take part in the official launch by the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) and McGill University of the Quartier de l'innovation (QI) on Monday, May 13, at the Darling Foundry in Montreal.
Jean-François Lisée, Minister of International Relations, La Francophonie and External Trade and Minister responsible for the Montréal region, will highlight the QI's potential to contribute to Montreal's development.
Innovators behind some of the projects that will be based in the QI will participate in the event.
The team behind C2-MTL Commerce+Creativity, the first major creative event to be held in the Quartier de l'innovation, on May 21 to 23, 2013, will take this opportunity to present a sneak peek of C2-MTL 2013.
Combining the complementary strengths of ÉTS and McGill, the QI is designed to promote synergy among institutions, researchers, students, residents and businesses to boost the potential for creativity and innovation and their applications in what is meant to become a "living laboratory." The QI will be located just steps from downtown Montreal, on a site that includes the Griffintown district. The one-of-a-kind QI project will go beyond industrial, scientific and technological achievements to foster urban, social and cultural innovation.
