TORONTO, Aug. 14, 2017 /CNW/ - On August 21 celebrate the astronomical event of the year at the Ontario Science Centre's Solar Eclipse Party. This free, outdoor event includes hands-on astronomy activities for sky-watchers of all ages and the unique opportunity to safely observe the solar eclipse through specially-filtered glasses and telescopes. While our nearest star will be 76 per cent covered by the Moon at the peak of the eclipse, astronomy-related fun will be 100 per cent covered at the Science Centre from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The last major solar eclipse visible in Toronto was in 1994 and totality for Toronto won't happen until 2024, so you definitely won't want to miss this year's rare cosmic coincidence.
The Solar Eclipse Party is presented in collaboration with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada: Toronto Centre. For more information about this event, please visit bit.ly/EclipseParty17.
