CALGARY, Aug. 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Close to 300 physician delegates from across the country will converge in Calgary today as the Canadian Medical Association's (CMA) 146th annual meeting gets under way. Over the next three days, delegates will debate policies and make recommendations that address the country's most pressing health issues.

Strategic Session #1 - End-of-Life Care in Canada
This session will explore end-of-life issues such as palliative care, advance care planning and physician-assisted dying.

• Ms. Sharon Carstairs, former Senate champion of palliative care
• Dr. David Roy, noted bioethicist from Quebec
• Dr. Paul Boucher, intensive care physician from Calgary
• Dr. Eric Wasylenko, family physician specializing in palliative care from Calgary
