/R E P E A T -- Media alert - CMA Holds Town Hall in Hamilton on Underlying Causes of Poor Health/

OTTAWA, Feb. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) will host its second town hall in Hamilton on March 6 as part of its National Dialogue on Health Care Transformation. Launched in Winnipeg on Feb. 4, the series of five public town halls across Canada focuses on the social factors that cause poor health - what are referred to as the social determinants of health.

The goal of these discussions is to look at ways that governments and stakeholders can address the health outcomes related to the social determinants of health and that physicians can better advocate for their patients. The choice of Hamilton for a town hall was inspired by the Hamilton Spectator's Code Red series, which found staggering disparities in the lifespans of people living in different parts of the city.
