CALGARY, Aug. 20, 2013 /CNW/ - The business portion of the Canadian Medical Association's (CMA) annual meeting will culminate today with the inaugural speech of incoming president Dr. Louis Hugo Francescutti, who will outline how physicians as leaders within health care can help transform the system.
Close to 300 physician delegates have gathered here to attend the CMA's 146th annual meeting of General Council taking place August 18-21 at the Telus Convention Centre. Delegates' motions and the incoming president's inaugural address are among the highlights of the last day of deliberations. The installation ceremony and the CMA's award ceremony will be held in the evening at the Hyatt Regency Calgary. This year, the CMA is recognizing 12 exceptional individuals, including dedicated physicians, talented medical students and outstanding health advocates.
