/R E P E A T -- Media Alert - The Canadian Nuclear Society will hold its 33rd annual conference at TCU Place in Saskatoon, Monday to Wednesday, June 11-13, 2012./
SASKATOON, SK, June 7, 2012 /CNW/ - "Building on our past; Building for the future" is the theme for this year's gathering of nuclear industry experts from across Canada and around the world.
This theme reflects both the 50th anniversary of nuclear power in Canada in 2012 (the first nuclear electricity to the Ontario grid occurred on June 4, 1962 - see recent news release: www.newswire.ca/en/story/985437/fifty-years-of-nuclear-power-in-canada), as well as the future outlook of the technology in providing low-emission and cost-effective electricity for Canadians.
Topics for discussion at this conference will include: the nuclear renaissance in Canada and around the world (with focus on Saskatchewan and Western Canada), recent developments at Canadian utilities, plans for plant refurbishment and new build, and a tribute to Canada's historical milestones in nuclear technology.
For business, energy, and science reporters this conference offers an insight into major nuclear projects and an opportunity to meet leaders in the nuclear sector. A few of the many conference highlights are listed below (more details at www.cns-snc.ca).
Media passes are available to accredited journalists at the conference registration desk (access to luncheons does not include meals).
