TORONTO, April 24, 2014 /CNW/ - On Saturday, May 3, five-time Olympic Medalist and women's hockey superstar, Hayley Wickenheiser, will kick-off Jumpstart Charities' May Red Ball campaign at the Canadian Tire store located at 777 Guelph Line in Burlington, Ontario.

Wickenheiser will be on hand to help bring attention to the financial barriers that exist for the one in three Canadian families who cannot afford to enroll their children in organized sports and physical activity programs. She will also sign autographs and finish off the day with a hockey clinic for two local hockey teams.

Every kid deserves the chance to develop the confidence, social skills and discipline gained through organized sport and physical activity – and they should have fun while doing so. Canadian Tire Jumpstart helps by assisting with the costs associated with registration, equipment and/or transportation.

During the month of May, Canadians can head to their local Canadian Tire, Mark's, Sport Chek, Atmosphere, National Sports, Sports Experts or Gas+ location and donate $2 in exchange for their own Jumpstart Red Ball. One hundred per cent of donations helps kids in the community in which the donation was received.
