Several days before the public hearings on the decriminalisation of euthanasia in Quebec, a Belgian lecturer of chemistry, Dr Tom Mortier will explain how the euthanasia law in Belgian caused the tragic death of his 64 year old mother who suffered from depression. She did not have a terminal illness such as cancer. She was a retired teacher and a mother of two children and grandmother of three. Until the time of her death by fatal injection by a Belgian doctor, she had travelled extensively.

Also present at the conference will be Dr. Paul Saba, co-president of the Coalition of Physicians for Social Justice. He will explain how the tragic Belgian experience of euthanasia will be repeated here in Quebec if Bill 52 "Dying with Dignity" becomes law.
