/R E P E A T -- Media Invitation - An International Congress Attempts to Break a Guinness World Record for the Longest Line of Food Cans/ Français
MONTREAL, Aug. 19, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Over 1,500 food science experts from all over the world are currently meeting at the Palais des congrès de Montréal for the 17th World Congress of the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST 2014). A group of student volunteers from the Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry Department of McGill University have taken this opportunity to solicit the generosity of locals, with a view to breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest line of food cans, an effort that requires close to 30,000 cans running the length of 3 km!
All the food collected from this initiative, themed, ''Give a can, give a damn,'' will be donated to Moisson Montréal. Those who would like to make a donation are invited to drop off their cans at the Palais des congrès from August 17 to 19 between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. on the 100-level, in the Commercial Mall.
Media representatives are invited to take part in the Closing Ceremony on August 20.
