Thousands of people will march against poverty and social exclusion on October 4
MONTRÉAL, Oct. 3, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Centraide's March of 1,000 Umbrellas, which marks the launch of Centraide of Greater Montreal's annual fundraising campaign, will take place at noon on October 4, 2018 in downtown Montreal.
Thousands of people will march along a new route that will start at Place du Canada and end at the Place des Festivals.
Rain or shine, donors, volunteers, agency representatives and personalities from the business world, public sector and trade unions will march with umbrellas in hand as a symbol of the protection we need to provide the poor and socially excluded.

Interviews with Lili-Anna Pereša, President and Executive Director of Centraide of Greater Montreal; the 2018 Campaign Co-Chairs, Marie-Josée Lamothe, President of Tandem International, and Stephen Bronfman, Executive Chairman of Claridge; as well as representatives from Centraide-supported agencies and people who receive help. |

Word of welcome / March starts. Marchers will go north on Peel until they get to Sainte-Catherine West; they will then head to the Place des festivals at the Quartier des spectacles. |

Four Vidéotron and Hydro-Québec platforms will be available for photographers and camera operators who want to take overhead shots of the march:
- One at the corner of René-Lévesque and Peel (south-west side)
- One on Sainte-Catherine, between Aylmer and City Councillors
- Two at the Place des Festivals
