MONTRÉAL, June 21, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - From June 19 to June 22, 2018, Montréal is hosting the ICLEI World Congress ICLEI in the urban era. Participants from some 60 countries will converge at the Palais des congrès in order to draw their inspiration from domestic and international best practices. The event will provide an ideal opportunity for the media to exchange with some of the major players in the field of sustainable urban development from across the globe.

Highlights of the day:
- At 8:30 a.m., during plenary 7, Laure Waridel (Équiterre and Trudel Johnston & Lespérance) and Ross Douglas (Autonomy and The Urban Mobility Summit) will expose how collaborative measures and collective partnerships are essential to sustainable development, because local governments are unable to carry the entire burden of making the necessary changes in their communities. .
- At 10:30 a.m., during thematic session E5, various speakers, including Johannes Van Der Merwe from the City of Capetown, South Africa, will discuss exemplary practices to build adequate infrastructures, improve efficacy and water supply and support water treatment technologies in developing countries.
- At 12:30 p.m, during session F1, Kirstin Miller, executive director of Ecocity Builders, in collaboration with other panelists, will present strategic means used by cities having an industrial legacy to transform their abandoned areas and industrial sites into neighborhood revitalization opportunities, to develop a green economy, for the conservation of biodiversity and to adapt to climate change.
