The PROCURE Walk of Courage and Tour of Courage will bring together walkers and cyclists as well as the Montreal Impact Academy, the Alouettes and Canadiens Alumni to celebrate Father's Day for a good cause
MONTREAL, June 12, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - On behalf of PROCURE, Jean Pagé and Winston McQuade invite all members of the media to the 11th edition of the Walk of Courage and 8th edition of the Tour of Courage on Sunday June 18 on Mount Royal. Our goal is to raise awareness across Quebec about prostate cancer. Mayor Denis Coderre will once again be Honorary President of the Walk, while Olympic champions Charles and François Hamelin will be Honorary Co-Presidents of the Tour. Since 2007, these two signature events have raised more than $3.3 million for PROCURE.
A NEW CONCEPT FOR THE TOUR OF COURAGE
In recognition of the 12 men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer in Quebec every day, PROCURE challenges Tour of Courage participants to climb Mount Royal 12 times! In partnership with Cyclovia Camillien-Houde and the City of Montréal - Arrondissement Ville-Marie, this 8th edition of the organization's signature cycling event will be held on Voie Camillien-Houde, which will be completely closed to traffic.
3 WAYS TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF AT THE WALK OF COURAGE
This year, walkers have an opportunity to select their own personal challenge, walking either 1km, 3km or 5km on this day devoted to raising awareness about prostate cancer.
All proceeds from the event will go to PROCURE, the only charitable organisation in Quebec exclusively dedicated to the fight against prostate cancer through research, awareness, education, and support programs for patients and their families – including a 24-hour help line. This year, 4,600 Quebecers will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 1 in 7 men will be affected during their lifetime.
