/R E P E A T -- Media invitation - Special Olympics Québec pays tribute to its athletes and to Yvan Cournoyer, Gerry Frappier, Pierre Brochet, Tom Quinn and the late Jean Béliveau/ Français
MONTREAL, Jan. 20, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The members of the media are invited to attend tomorrow, January 21, 2016, at 6 p.m. the Special Olympics Québec Athlete Award Evening and the induction of 4 new members into the SOQ Partners' Hall of Fame which will take place at the John-Molson Room located at 1670 Notre-Dame Street East (corner of Papineau) from 6 to 8 p.m.
At this event, 7 recognition awards will be given to our athletes who have distinguished themselves during the last year. This ceremony will be followed by the induction of 4 prominent figures into the Special Olympics Québec Partners' Hall of Fame.
This year, in recognition of their outstanding work and their commitment towards our organization, we will have the honour of inducting:
in the Sport Celebrity category: Yvan Cournoyer - former player and ambassador for the Montreal Canadiens;
in the Sport Manager category: Gerry Frappier - president, French language TV and RDS at Bell Media;
in the Police Department Director category: Pierre Brochet - director of the Laval Police Department;
in the Business Manager category: Tom Quinn, - former president and chief operating officer of Forzani Group.
A very special tribute will be paid to the late Jean Béliveau for his exceptional contribution, in the presence of Mrs. Élyse Béliveau and Mrs. Hélène Béliveau.
Alexandre Bilodeau, double Olympic freestyle skiing champion and Special Olympics Québec ambassador, Dimitrios (Jim) Beis, member of Montréal's Executive Committee, responsible for Procurement, Sports, Recreation and Communities of Diverse Origins and mayor of the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Borough, and our major partners will be attending this event along with the athletes being honoured and the new inductees to celebrate with us.
