MONTREAL, Sept. 9, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Members of the media are cordially invited to a press conference on Wednesday, September 9 at 11:30 a.m. to kick-off awareness of the 29th edition of the Shrinebowl Canada, an RSEQ university football game between McGill and Concordia, which benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada. The presser will take place at 1529 Cedar Ave. (near the Montreal General Hospital).
This is a wonderful photo opportunity featuring university football players interacting with hospital patients.
This year's honorary chairman, sportscaster Paul Graif of CTV Montreal will be on hand, along with head coaches Ronald Hilaire (McGill) and Mickey Donovan (Concordia), who will talk about the game and be available for interviews, accompanied by a number of their players and respective school mascots. Shrinebowl Canada's honorary King and Queen will also be introduced, namely 11-year-old Alessandro and 13-year-old Erika-Joanie, both hospital patients. Media will have the opportunity to interact with the King and Queen and follow the players as they visit the patients.
The public is invited to attend the 29th annual Shrinebowl Canada at Concordia Stadium, 7200 Sherbrooke St. W., on Saturday, September 19th at 2 pm. The event is organized by the Dollard des Ormeaux-based Karnak Shriners in conjunction with the Concordia Stingers and the McGill Redmen. The previous 28 Montreal Shrinebowl games have generated $916,000 in donations for the hospital.
Shriners Hospitals for Children - Canada is a leader in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and offers specialized orthopaedic pediatric health care. This year, the benefits from the event fund the construction of the new hospital which opens its doors on October 5.
