OTTAWA, Dec. 16, 2014 /CNW/ - The Michener Awards Foundation is alerting news organizations and journalists to deadlines for the 2014 Michener Award and two fellowships that will be available next year.
Governor General David Johnston will present the 2014 Michener Award for Meritorious Public Service Journalism at a ceremony next year at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. Entries may be submitted from January 2 until the February 20, 2015 deadline.
The Foundation is also offering two fellowships in 2015, with the same deadline, February 20, for applications. The Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Investigative Journalism, supported by BMO Financial Group, allows an eligible journalist time to complete a reporting project that serves the public interest. The Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Journalism Education enables a journalist-in-residence at a Canadian journalism school for a project that enhances the education of the recipient and journalism students. Both fellowships provide $30,000 and $5,000 in expenses.
