/R E P E A T -- Notice of News Conference - Documentary launch takes aim at Hudak's plans for U.S.-style labour law/

LONDON, ON, Sept. 19, 2013 /CNW/ - A new documentary film about Ontario PC leader Tim Hudak's proposal to bring a U.S.-style "right-to-work" law to Ontario will be launched here in London as the Tories prepare for their 2013 policy conference.

Place:	Duke of Connaught Room, 3^rd Floor, Hilton Hotel, 300 King St., LONDON
	(The Hilton is directly across the street from the London Convention Centre and the Ontario PC policy conference. The two buildings are connected by a skyway.)

The film, which takes viewers on a road trip to South Carolina, a right-to-work state since 1954, was written and directed by respected journalist and documentary filmmaker Bill Gillespie. It was financed by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union.

"Tim Hudak's plans to change labour laws are not just about unions," said OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas. "The number one effect of 'right-to-work' laws is to drive down wages and benefits for all working people, unionized or not. If implemented in Ontario, this kind of legislation would further weaken a middle class which is already fighting for its life as employers push for ever-higher profits and ever-lower wages.
