LAVAL, QC, Sept. 14, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - On September 16, the Société de transport de Laval (STL) will be encouraging Lavallers to take the bus with a $1 incentive fare day. This initiative is designed to allow people to experience the benefits of public transit first hand. This event is a recent addition to the ever-growing list of initiatives designed to promote sustainable mobility in and around Montreal in mid-September including the Défi sans auto solo, PARK(ing) Day and les Semaines de la mobilité.
Last year, for the first edition of this initiative, 3,860 additional trips were made in a single day. This was a 4.5% increase over our regular ridership rate. This year, the STL is hoping for the same enthusiastic response from the people of Laval.
According to David De Cotis, President of the STL's Board of Directors, "this $1 fare day is proof of the STL's commitment to supporting sustainable mobility. In the coming months, a series of preferential bus measures will be implemented to facilitate travel for our riders. These initiatives are another step toward sustainable mobility for the people of Laval."
