About the speaker: Leading Canadian Heart and Stroke funded stroke researcher Dr. Vladimir Hachinski is professor of neurology at the University of Western Ontario. He is the editor-in-chief of the journal Stroke, the leading publication of the field and president of the World Federation of Neurology He was recently named to the Order of Canada.

Dr. Hachinski warns public health will be the new stroke battlefield and predicts surprising changes in how we'll prevent stroke in the future. To cope with the projected growth in the incidence of strokes in Canada, he predicts the public may need to take on roles traditionally performed by healthcare specialists.

Journalists are invited to visit the Congress media room across from registration following the presentation to find out about other noteworthy studies and presentations taking place during Congress.

The Canadian Stroke Congress is co-hosted by the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Stroke Network, and the Canadian Stroke Consortium.

It is estimated that the overall economic impact of the Congress will be in the range of $1.5 million in direct spending for Quebec City.
