MONTREAL, May 8, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Association francophone pour le savoir (Acfas), the world's largest French-language multidisciplinary academic congress will host a two-day symposium on English-speaking Quebec. This event will revolve around the theme of diversity.
Renowned Quebec philosopher Daniel Weinstock will provide the keynote address entitled "The Paradoxical Destiny of Anglophones in Quebec" on May 12 at 4 p.m. This will be followed by a reception.
The event also features 20 presentations by scholars from Quebec, Canada, and abroad on topics including identity, integration, education, history, the arts, black minorities, and the health care sector.
Acfas is hosting the event on May 12 and 13 as part of a larger, multi-conference program held at Concordia University. The symposium, which takes place in French, is organized by the Quebec English-Speaking Communities Research Network and the Canadian Institute for Research on Linguistic Minorities.
