/R E P E A T -- The Canadian Religious Conference's 30th General Assembly and 60th Anniversary Celebration/ Français
MONTREAL, May 26, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - From May 29 through June 1, 2014, 280 leaders of Catholic religious congregations from across Canada will come together in Montreal to participate in the 30th General Assembly of the Canadian Religious Conference (CRC).
The Assembly will be vested with special meaning this year because the 60th anniversary of the Canadian Religious Conference will be highlighted during a festive evening on Friday, May 30. At that time, the souvenir album Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow will be unveiled. The album recounts the history of the Conference in broad strokes, from its founding to the present. A story of solidarity and mutual support, engagement in Church and in society, a history shaped over the past sixty years through countless celebrations, meetings, activities, publications and statements.
With history as backdrop and eyes turned towards the future, the theme of the CRC's 30th General Assembly is Beyond Frontiers: A Call to Transformation. It is an invitation to take a fresh look at the presence, within congregations, the Church and society, of people coming from different cultures, conveying values, beliefs and stories, each more diverse than the next.
Father Anthony Gittins, c.s.sp., an expert on intercultural issues, will help the Assembly undertake a process of inner transformation to meet the challenges being raised in this new reality. This process is meant to be an invitation to openness, dialogue, creativity and doing something new.
At the end of the Assembly, a new Administrative Council will be elected and orientations and priorities for the next two years will be proposed.
From May 29 onwards, a daily summary will be published on the Canadian Religious Conference (CRC) website at the following address: www.crc-canada.org.
