/R E P E A T -- The Guignolée du Dr Julien's 11th edition December 14th, 2013 - Help bring back the smiles of vulnerable kids/ Français
MONTREAL, Dec. 6, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The 11th edition of the Guignolée du Dr Julien will take place Saturday December 14, in Montreal, from 9 AM to 5 PM. The Fondation du Dr Julien invites the public to give generously to improve the lives of Quebec's vulnerable children and that of their families.
« The difficult living conditions found in vulnerable neighbourhoods create a stress so intense that it becomes toxic and endangers a child's development. This is where the work of the social pediatrics team comes in - to support and provide families with tools to help them achieve well-being, ensure that children's basic rights are fully respected, and provide them with an equal chance at success. We need the renewed support of the population this December 14th to pursue our mission. Give generously so that our children may thrive all year-round », declared Dr. Gilles Julien, Founder and President of the Fondation du Dr Julien.
6 Ways to Contribute to the Guignolée du Dr Julien
On Facebook - Starting December 6th, the Guignolée du Dr Julien's Wheel of Fortune will be online on the Fondation du Dr Julien's Facebook page. Each time someone spins the wheel, it will stop on an amount that Groupe Jean Coutu will donate in the name of the person that played the game. The goal is to collect $ 50,000 before December 14th. You can try it out at Facebook.com/FondationDrJulien.
In Person - All day, on December 14th, volunteers will collect donations in the streets of Montreal, in public markets (Jean-Talon, Atwater and Maisonneuve), and at the Salon des métiers d'art de Montréal taking place at Place Bonaventure.
The Fondation du Dr Julien will also accept donations in kind to provide gifts for children and their families for the holidays (books, toys, educational toys, art supplies, sporting equipment, clothes, cultural or sporting event tickets, gift-certificates, or musical instruments for the Garage à musique).
By Mobile - You can give with your mobile by texting DRJULIEN to 80100. TELUS, a privileged partner of the Fondation du Dr Julien, will double the amount up to $ 20,000. In addition to this commitment, TELUS will give a generous donation of $ 20,000 to the Guignolée.
For the fourth year in a row, TELUS will provide, with the help of its volunteering employees, the set-up of the phone systems to handle all calls during the Guignolée, as well as manpower to assist the Fondation in the fundraising.
By phone - By dialing the 1-855-Dr-Julien.
Online - By visiting the www.guignoleedrjulien.org.
By Mail - At the Fondation du Dr Julien: 1601, Aylwin Street, Montreal, QC, H1W 3B9.
A Party for the Whole Family
From 9 AM to 5 PM, both event spokespeople - Ève Christian and Christian Bégin - will greet families at the Assistance d'enfants en difficulté centre (1600, Aylwin Street). Various outdoor activities will also be part of the program: upbeat music with percussions and choirs, fire eaters, pony and horse-drawn carriage rides, face painting for kids, and street hockey games (featuring comedian Pierre Verville and Jean-Charles Lajoie as commentators). The real Santa Claus will also be there to greet both kids and grown-ups! Another not-to-be-missed event will be the broadcast of "Samedi et Rien d'Autre", a Radio-Canada's Première Chaîne radio show hosted by Joël Le Bigot, live on site from 7 AM to 11 AM for the 8th consecutive year.
Choirs and music will liven things up at Côte-des-Neiges where volunteers, including many Villa Sainte-Marcelline students, will collect donations in front of the Olivieri Bookstore (5219, chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges) from 9 AM to 5 PM. Montreal public markets (Jean-Talon, Atwater and Maisonneuve Markets) will get into the Holiday spirit as well with various live musical performances. A complete schedule of events is available at www.guignoleedrjulien.org.
December 14th, Community Social Pediatrics Day
December 14th will also be Community Social Pediatrics Day, a movement supported by the Fondation du Dr Julien. On this occasion, all the community social pediatrics centres of Quebec will hold their annual guignolée to maximize their impact. As each centre is self-financing, the amount gathered will be used to provide services to their communities' vulnerable families and children. A complete listing of collection points is available at www.guignoleedrjulien.org.
About the Guignolée du Dr Julien

Services provided include medical, psychosocial, psycho-educational or educational intervention, innovative therapies (art therapy, ergotherapy, music therapy), adapted services (orthophony, psychology, pedopsychiatry and neuropsychology), and various other sport and cultural activities (summer camps, music courses, theatre, shows, etc.).
