/R E P E A T -- Thousands of vapers from around the world descend on Toronto for Canada's Vape Expo (CVE)/
TORONTO, June 22, 2018 /CNW/ - Join us June 22-24 at Toronto's International Centre to take part in the first national vape expo since vaping became legal and legitimate in this country with the passing of Bill S5 in May. Health Canada has since legitimized vaping, calling it a less harmful alternative to smoking and an effective way to quit smoking.
This landmark decision has solidified Canada's vape market which has grown from a home-based, DIY business into a world-class industry with voluntary standards that are equal to those found in manufacturing sectors.
CVE has drawn attention from companies around the world. Established in 2015 by founding partners Dashvapes.com and Vapemeet.ca, CVE has become a staple in vaping communities across Canada. In addition to past shows in Toronto, CVE has held exhibitions in Montreal, Ottawa and Edmonton.
This weekend's event in Toronto stands to be the largest yet, attracting exhibitors from across Canada as well as brands from Asia, Europe and the U.S. More than 10,000 people from all walks of life are expected to attend, with ticket sales already topping any previously held events in Canada.
"We've also seen a steady increase of former smokers choosing vaping over traditional combustible cigarettes," said event spokesman Charlie Pisano.
"We're excited and proud to bring the show back to Toronto!"
Unfortunately this may be the last CVE to be held in Toronto. On July 1, provincial regulations will prohibit the sampling and testing of products in Ontario shops. So while we gather to celebrate the federal stance on vaping this weekend, the celebration is bittersweet for Ontario vendors who may no longer be able to effectively help current smokers quit thanks to the contradictory regulations.
"We are counting on the incoming provincial government to have another look at the regulations before Ontario's vape industry is permanently damaged," Pisano said.
CVE is open to all those ages 19 and up.
