TORONTO, May 13 /CNW/ - The following B-Roll is available by Broadcast On-Demand web download:
STORY SUMMARY:
Chalk River, May 12, 2010 -- Atomic Energy of Canada Limited's (AECL) top priority is returning the National Research Universal (NRU) reactor to service as safely and as quickly as possible. AECL has released the following video to provide more information on the return to service of NRU.
Video:
AECL's Return-to-Service Project Director Dave Cox explains how the NRU repair team is performing training and reliability testing on the NRU reactor mock-ups in preparation of performing the final repair to the vessel. Using the full-size mock-up, Dave demonstrates how the team is applying the welds and plates to test sites and gives viewers a sense of the work involved in performing the largest repair to be completed on the reactor. The complexity of this particular repair is great, with its planning and analyses warranting the team's time and efforts for the past 4+ months. As Mr. Cox explains, the team is approaching this final repair very carefully as they feel they have "one chance to get it right."
