/R E P E AT -- L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge - CANCELLATION of weekend roadwork
due to rainy weather/
Bonaventure Expressway: Closure in both directions at Pierre-Dupuy Avenue
LONGUEUIL, QC, Sept. 24 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated wishes to announce cancellation of roadwork on the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge this weekend because of unfavourable weather conditions. Some aspects of the planned paving work cannot be undertaken in rainy weather. The work on the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge will continue over the next two weekends. All the details will be provided at the start of next week.
Given prevailing weather conditions, the Corporation wish to announce continuation of major repair work on the Bonaventure Expressway involving the complete closure of the Expressway East and West (Scenario C) at Exit 2 (Pierre-Dupuy Avenue) on the following schedule:
- Friday, September 24, 11 PM to Monday, September 27, 5 AM: Complete closure of the Bonaventure Expressway - eastbound (towards Champlain Bridge) and westbound (towards Downtown Montreal) at Exit 2 (Scenario C - see the map). Note that two out of three westbound lanes (Downtown) will be closed as of 10 PM.
Please note that because of the cancellation of major roadwork on the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge, traffic should move well on the Champlain Bridge. When possible, motorists are asked to avoid the Bonaventure Expressway by taking Highway 15. It is also important to note that the Exit 5 of the Bonaventure Expressway will remain closed, as the work on the L'Île-des-Sœurs Bridge will not have occurred.
The work will continue from Monday, September 27 between 9 PM and 6 AM going west (toward downtown - Scenario B) and Tuesday, September 28 between 9 PM and 6 AM going east (toward the Champlain Bridge - Senario A)
Detour roads have been planned for the construction area. We invite you to consult our map (http://bit.ly/bplZzT) presenting the different closure scenarios.
