QUÉBEC CITY, Nov. 24, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The Syndicat de professionnelles et professionnels du gouvernement du Québec (SPGQ) is holding a demonstration at noon on Wednesday, November 25, in front of the offices of the Secrétariat du Conseil du trésor in Québec City and Montréal, to condemn the concessions the government is seeking to impose on its employees and to denounce the lack of good faith on the government side in the bargaining process.
The action will be a chance for Québec government professionals to condemn the offensive offers put on the table by the legislator-employer. The government is seeking to impoverish civil servants and is seeking to scale back their retirement plan despite the fact that the plan is fully financed.
The SPGQ recently obtained a strong strike mandate, with more than 75% of SPGQ members voting in favour of strike action to back demands put forward by the bargaining committee. Voter participation reached a new high water mark, meaning that an absolute majority of SPGQ members voted in favour of strike action. Professional employees will be on strike every weeknight and every weekend from November 27 through December 22, 2015.
