Radio-Canada Ontario and Groupe Média TFO celebrate the end of high school with young Franco-Ontarians Français
TORONTO, May 19, 2020 /CNW/ - Public broadcasters Radio-Canada Ontario and Groupe Média TFO are co-launching an exceptional initiative for young graduates across the province. A writing challenge, L'expérience 20/20, will then be followed by a virtual celebration, Le bal (dé)masqué. Both events proudly celebrate the end of high school for 12th grade Francophone students, honouring their many accomplishments.
L'expérience 20/20 Challenge
L'expérience 20/20, launched today, gives a voice to teens until May 31. Radio Canada Ontario and TFO will invite them to write their best speech for their school, their fellow students or their teachers. The challenge is open to Francophone and Francophile 12th grade students registered with one of Ontario's school boards. The terms of participation and the rules are available on the following page: Radio-Canada.ca/lexperience2020. A selection of speeches from across the province will be featured during the big virtual event on June 19.
"It was important for us to offer high school students a place to celebrate their rite of passage. Through this original concept, young adults will have the opportunity to showcase their creativity, their gratitude for their teachers and their appreciation for their peers. Their speeches will have a deeper meaning still given the current circumstances. We are so proud to contribute to this celebration alongside many media actors of the province."
- Pierre Ouellette, Director, Radio-Canada Ontario.
Le bal (dé)masqué Virtual Event
Additionally, students will be welcome to gather in front of their screens in the evening of Friday, June 19 to celebrate their graduation during Le bal (dé)masqué, a unique opportunity to celebrate along with their peers across the province.
Twelfth grade students and their families are welcome to this exceptional virtual gathering alongside Alison Vicrobeck (Radio-Canada) and Pascal Boyer (TFO) for an evening unlike any other.
"Completing one's studies is a huge achievement for anyone, but completing them in a minority French setting is a sizeable accomplishment that we ought to underscore. This year, we will do things differently, by suggesting an initiative that we hope will be memorable for thousands of young Franco-Ontarian graduates. With Le bal (dé)masqué, we will celebrate together while maintaining current social distancing requirements. This will be an inspiring and unique event for all of us in the province."
- Éric Minoli, Chief Operating Officer, Groupe Média TFO
Le bal (dé)masqué will put graduates in the spotlight, offering exceptional programming: video testimonials, surprise messages and performances from our very own homegrown artists.
Francophone and Francophile teens across the country will be welcome to join Franco-Ontarian graduates to celebrate their achievements and (re)discover Franco-Ontarian talents. The event will be recorded and rebroadcast on ICI RADIO-CANADA TÉLÉ and TFO.
"As we near the end of the school year, I recognize this important milestone for all Ontario students. On behalf of the Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, thank you to Groupe Média TFO and Radio-Canada Ontario for celebrating the hard work and accomplishments of Francophone and Francophile students graduating across our province."
- Sam Oosterhoff, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education
Both initiatives are supported by regional Francophone community media: L'Express de Toronto, Le goût de vivre, CINN-FM, Le Nord, CFRH 88,1-106,7, Le Voyageur et Tapage, Le Loup FM and 94,5 Unique FM.
