OTTAWA, Oct. 13 /CNW/ - The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) and the Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers (CARS) will host more than 400 rail business leaders at the North American Rail Summit (NARS) October 17-19 in Montreal. Traditionally held in Chicago for the Coordinated Mechanical Association (CMA) and Railway Supply Institute (RSI), this is the first time the North American Rail Summit is being held in Montreal, a hub for transporting goods across the continent by rail.
"The choice of Montreal is obvious because of the city's major railway infrastructure, the significant presence of CN and CP, and the concentration of a large number of suppliers and consultants with expertise in the rail sector," said Cliff Mackay, President and CEO of the Railway Association of Canada. "We're very excited to bring together speakers, customers and case highlighting technological advancements and best practices in the North American rail industry."
The summit will feature speakers such as Marc Laliberté, President and CEO, VIA Rail Canada, Mr. Antonio Boemi, Vice-president, Growth and development, The Montreal Port Authority, and Mario Iacobacci, Ph.D. Director of Economics with AECOM in Montreal. The conference features two and a half days of technical sessions by members of the CMA, the RAC's annual general meeting, a CARS/Agence Métropolitaine de Transport workshop, a large trade show, a Rail Research & Development Symposium as well as a tradeshow.
