First edition of original race saw 230 business executives and entrepreneurs pedalling on BIXI bikes
MONTREAL, June 4, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The first edition of Rallye Montréal inc., organized by the Fondation du maire: le Montréal inc. de demain and which took place May 23, raised a total of $120,000. The money will be invested in start-up bursaries and programs for promising young Montreal businesses, as part of the Foundation's mission.
The fundraiser proved to be original and eclectic, with 230 participants making up 46 corporate teams, pedalling on BIXI bikes generously supplied for the day to complete a 17-km course through downtown and Old Montreal. Participants took on specific challenges at the Aimia, Cascades, Groupe Copley, Gaz Métro and Rio Tinto Alcan pit-stops.
Winners were announced by Pierre Pomerleau, president and CEO of Pomerleau inc., and the honorary president for the premier edition of the Rallye Montréal inc., during the closing cocktail following the race. He was joined by Montreal Mayor Gérald Tremblay, as well as several members of the Foundation's Board of directors.
Top 3 teams:
1st place: Astral
2nd place: Telus
