RAVEN PROJECT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT PROCESS UPDATE
TSX-V TRADING SYMBOL: CEC
VANCOUVER, Nov. 17 /CNW/ - Compliance Energy Corporation is pleased to report that the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) has confirmed that the federal government will not be initiating a federal panel review of the proposed Raven Underground Coal Mine Project in British Columbia.
CEAA noted that "At this time, after considering the project information received to date from the proponent and the comments from the public, the Agency and other federal departments have not identified significant adverse environmental effects that may result from the project after applying standard mitigation measures." In addition, CEAA reported that "The project will continue to be assessed as a comprehensive study" as opposed to being "...referred to an independent joint federal/provincial expert review panel."
CEAA has also confirmed it is making available $100,000 under its participant funding program to assist groups and individuals to participate in the federal environmental assessment of the Raven Underground Coal Mine Project. Further details regarding this program are available on the CEAA's website at www.acee-ceaa.gc.ca.
