Eighteen RBC analysts receive "TopGun" designation
TORONTO, Oct. 12 /CNW/ - RBC Capital Markets has been ranked the top Equity Research Group with an industry-leading share of TopGun analysts, according to the 2010 Brendan Wood International (BWI) Review of Institutional Equity Research, Sales and Trading Performance in Canada.
The annual BWI study, now in its 31st year, ranked 18 RBC Capital Markets analysts as "TopGuns" - the most of all the broker/dealers - marking the second year in a row that RBC has received this level of recognition. A TopGun analyst is one who finishes in the top three in their individual sector. Eight first-place, eight second-place and two third-place rankings were awarded to RBC analysts.
"The recognition from the global BWI panel is a testament to the depth and breadth of our Research team," said Richard Talbot, RBC Capital Markets' Co-Head of Global Research. "We are tremendously proud of our team's insightful research which delivers well-informed content and timely investment ideas to our clients."
The BWI study also recognized RBC Capital Markets' analysts as having the best overall ranking in the "knowledge of sector" and "client impact/penetration" categories. RBC's analysts also received the most votes from Non-Canadian Buy Side firms.
Analysts were evaluated by over 250 Canadian and international portfolio managers and buy-side analysts against seven different criteria: quality of investment ideas, quality of analysis, knowledge of the sector, commissions impact, and finally momentum. A total of 447 analysts from across the industry were evaluated by the BWI panel.
RBC Capital Markets' award-winning Global Research team has over 100 publishing analysts, offering proprietary research on over 1,200 equities and corporate credits; as well as currencies, rates, emerging markets and commodities businesses around the globe. RBC Capital Markets' Research has also recently received international recognition from the Wall Street Journal, StarMine, Greenwich Associates, the annual Technical Analyst Awards, Institutional Investor and Bloomberg.
