MONTREAL, June 27, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - As main sponsor of the 2015 edition of the RBC Demi‑Marathon of Sherbrooke, RBC Royal Bank is taking advantage of this popular event to make a large donation of $23,000 to two local organizations: JEVI Centre de prévention du suicide – Estrie and the Coalition sherbrookoise des travailleurs de rue.
Demonstrating a strong presence in their community, RBC Royal Bank employees made their way through the various Demi-Marathon courses along with a number of participants, including Martin Thibodeau, President, Quebec Headquarters, RBC Royal Bank. Their efforts combined with corporate donations raised a sum of $23,000 for the JEVI Centre de prévention du suicide – Estrie and the Coalition des sherbrookoise des travailleurs de rue organizations.
"As a responsible corporate citizen, we are very proud to participate in and contribute to the development of communities in which we are present. As always, our employees responded enthusiastically to the invitation, participating in force to raise funds for the less privileged members of society. It warms my heart," said Martin Thibodeau, President, Quebec Headquarters, RBC Royal Bank.
"In the current economic climate and with ever-growing needs, RBC's large donation is a real blessing, allowing us to maintain the existing range of services and avoid further cutbacks for this year," explained Louise Lévesque, Executive Director, JEVI Centre de prévention du suicide - Estrie. Founded in 1986, JEVI works to promote well-being and suicide prevention across the Eastern Townships.
"For us, RBC is an ideal partner that is extremely involved in the community, and we are happy to count on its financial support. RBC's gift will help towards sprucing up the interior and exterior of our new Macadam J bus provided by the Société de Transport de Sherbrooke (STS)," stated Chantal Fortier, General Manager of the Coalition sherbrookoise des travailleurs de rue. Founded in 1988, the Coalition works to connect with young people who have lost touch to varying degrees with their families and with their community.
