RCMP Execute Search Warrant on Marihuana Grow
LONDON, ON, Sept. 22 /CNW/ - On Tuesday, September 21st, 2010 the London Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Drug Section in partnership with the London Police Service Guns and Drugs Section executed a search warrant on a residence located at 1787 Oxford Street East in London.
During the search, police seized hundreds of marihuana plants in various stages of growth with an estimated value of $250,000 as well as growing equipment used in the production of this type of operation. There were no occupants in the residence at the time of the search, and no arrests were made.
This investigation is ongoing.
"Production of marihuana has direct links to Organized Crime which poses a significant threat to our community's health and safety," stated S/Sgt. Steve Arthur, Acting Officer in Charge of London Detachment. "This initiative is part of the RCMP's ongoing commitment to reducing crime and creating safe homes and safe communities."
