WOODBRIDGE, ON, May 2, 2019 /CNW/ - Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) arrested two subjects for the production and the trafficking of methamphetamine.
On May 1st, 2019, RCMP officers from the Clandestine Lab Enforcement Team at Milton Detachment arrested two individuals for offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act relating to the production and trafficking of methamphetamine. Since the start of the investigation in November 2018, investigators have seized over nine kilograms of methamphetamine and several chemical precursors used in the production of controlled substances.
Tien Minh Lieu, 40 years of age of Woodbridge, ON, and Simon Lieu, 54 years of age, of Woodbridge, ON, have been charged with:
- One Count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- Six counts of Possession of items with the intent to use them to Produce a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
"Those who illegally produce and traffic methamphetamine and other synthetic drugs including fentanyl are greed driven and do not care about the negative impact they are having on our communities. Addressing this challenge within our communities is a priority for the RCMP and requires co-ordination with our partners," stated Inspector Marwan Zogheib Officer in Charge of the Toronto West RCMP Serious and Organized Crime Unit.
Both accused will appear in court in Newmarket today.
