RCMP seize Counterfeit Ball Caps from London Business
LONDON, ON, Oct 4 /CNW/ - As the result of an investigation conducted by The London Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Federal Enforcement Section (FES), approximately 300 Counterfeit ball caps were seized from a London Business.
No charges have been laid and this investigation is ongoing.
The ball caps seized were bearing various unlicensed commercial logos including Major League Baseball, National Football League, National Basketball Association and Fox Racing.
It is an offence in Canada to sell and distribute merchandise bearing unlicensed or unregistered trademarks without the permission of the trademark owner.
RCMP intelligence indicates organized crime groups are involved in many counterfeit goods rings. In some cases, legitimate retailers are duped by these groups into unknowingly passing fake products to unwitting consumers. In other cases, the retailer knows full well what is being sold and is simply out to make a profit regardless of the impact on the consumer.
Anyone with information regarding the sale and /or manufacturing of counterfeit merchandise is asked to contact the RCMP at 1-800-387-0020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-265-4444.
