OTTAWA, Sept. 14, 2017 /CNW/ - The RCMP National Division NCR Traffic Services was recently made aware of fraudulent emails purporting to be from the RCMP. The emails claim the recipient owes money for traffic violations.
The RCMP would like to remind the public that it does not serve or issue charges or traffic violations by email, regardless of the type of offence.
Anyone who receives an email such as this one should not reply, and should report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. If you have been a victim of this scam, please contact your local police detachment.
