TORONTO, Jan. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - Veolia Transportation is disappointed that members of Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 113, in a supervised vote today, rejected the company's offer.
In an effort to end the current work stoppage, Veolia Transportation amended its offer several times since negotiations began last year. In the latest effort the company submitted an amendment to wages and contract duration in a letter to ATU Local 113 on December 10, 2011. The offer increased the wage package to provide for a 10.8% increase over 4 years.
Although we were hopeful that members would vote today in favor of the offer and return to work, Veolia intends to continue to work with the York Region to restore service as quickly as possible.
We thank the York Region and the local community for their patience and support.
