Reaction of the Ahl-ill Bait Mosque following the report broadcast on TVA Nouvelles on December 12 Français
MONTREAL, Dec. 13, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Following the report of the journalist Marie-Pier Cloutier broadcast by TVA Nouvelles on December 12, members of the management of the Ahl-ill Bait Mosque vigorously deny having asked for the exclusion of anyone on the site under construction facing its building.
"The Ahl-ill Bait Mosque has had good relations with the contractor since the beginning of the project. It is with surprise and astonishment that we react today. We had actually asked for parking at lunchtime on Fridays, but never asked for anyone to be excluded. This request, if it exists, does not come from our organization. " – Moayed Altalibi
The statements contained in the report about the exclusion of women on the construction site are not only false, but fuel cynicism and harm the entire communities. This type of false news contributes to the social breakdown between Quebeckers of Muslim and non-Muslim faiths. The reported statements contradict the values of respect and appreciation of women in the mosque and at their workplace, regardless of its type.
The Ahl-ill Bait Mosque is saddened that such a report was broadcast by an important media without prior verification or confirmation from its management. We hope that the facts will be reestablished so that we can continue to build bridges between our communities regardless of the confession or gender of the individuals who shape them.
