ReadSpeaker Adds Document-Reading and Viewing Solution for Moodle Customers
UPPSALA, Sweden, July 8, 2014 /CNW/ - Document content on Moodle, the popular open-source e-learning software, will now be speech-enabled using the docReader service from ReadSpeaker. Speech-enabled content improves accessibility by allowing learners to consume information in the way they are most comfortable. Learning disabilities, visual impairments, and second-language challenges are just a few examples of why some learners prefer listening to content over reading it.
The docReader service from ReadSpeaker is plugin-free, and works across the wide variety of document types found online, including PDFs. Moodle end users will now have the option of speech-enabling different types of textual content, without downloading any software. In addition to covering many document formats, docReader allows users to listen to content on many connected devices, including smartphones and tablets.
Learners can use docReader to listen to entire documents, or choose to highlight and listen to individual sections. The docReader service allows learners to take their content with them on a jog, riding public transportation, in a busy office, and beyond. Learners can also choose to use ReadSpeaker's Enterprise Highlighting solution to highlight and listen to Moodle course content that is not presented within documents.
By making it possible to speech-enable document formats, ReadSpeaker helps Moodle customers to make courses more accessible for users, and improves the reach of educators. Online learners can now use docReader to learn where, when, and how they choose.
"The ability for Moodle organizations and institutions all over the world to add the ReadSpeaker docReader document-reading and viewing solution is a very nice step forward for learners to have better access to different types of document formats," says Niclas Bergström, founder and CEO, ReadSpeaker.
