RECALL OF AmerTac™ Amerelle® "Forever-Glo™ Cylinder Nite
Lite™" Model No. 71107
TORONTO, Dec. 2 /CNW/ - American Tack & Hardware Co. Inc. ("AmerTac"), of Saddle River, N.J. today announced a voluntary recall of the "Forever-GloTM Cylinter Nite LiteTM" Model Number 71107.
An electrical short circuit in the nite lite can cause it to overheat and smolder or melt which can burn the consumer or result in a fire. AmerTac has received nine reports of incidents in the United States involving the recalled nite lites smoking, burning, melting and/or charring. No injuries have been reported.
The recalled "Forever-GloTM Cylinder Nite LiteTM" is a cylinder shaped night light with a white base and clear top that plugs into the wall. Only Model Number 71107 with a manufacturer code of SY is included in this recall. "Model 71107" and the manufacturer code "SY" are printed on the back of the night light. The light measures about 4 inches in height by 1- 1/2 inches wide and is about 1 inch thick.
The product was distributed across Canada in Rona stores from May 13, 2009 through the early fall of 2010 for $3.99.
Consumers should stop using the recalled nite lites immediately. If the units are plugged into the wall, turn off the power at the circuit box and remove the light from the wall socket and contact AmerTac at the number below for a full refund.
