Recognizing Outstanding Volunteers
JA Canada announces the recipients of the Royden Richardson National JA Volunteer Award
TORONTO, April 19, 2018 /CNW/ - JA Canada is pleased to announce Paul Ayotte and Dan McPhee as the recipients of the 2018 Royden Richardson National JA Volunteer Awards. These awards honour volunteers who advance the goals of JA both locally and nationally.
"Paul and Dan are truly deserving of the Royden Richardson National JA Volunteer Awards - for their dedication to preparing our students through the mission of Junior Achievement," said Scott Hillier, President and CEO, JA Canada. "These outstanding leaders have showcased their commitment to improving the lives of young Canadians and have helped Junior Achievement make a life-changing impact on students."
Paul Ayotte from Peterborough, ON is the recipient of the Royden Richardson JA National Volunteer of the Year Award – Governance & Administration. Paul is the former Mayor of Peterborough and was instrumental in bringing JA to the region. Since 2008, he has held various board roles, most recently as Chair of the Board. Under his leadership, JA Peterborough, Lakeland, Muskoka has experienced tremendous growth and success. In addition to his involvement with JA, Paul has volunteered with other community organizations including the MS Society and St. Vincent de Paul.
Dan McPhee from Calgary, AB is the recipient of the Royden Richardson JA National Volunteer of the Year Award – Programs. Now retired from Shell Canada, Dan has been volunteering with JA Southern Alberta for 26 years. He has delivered a variety of programs to over 100 classes during this time, inspiring thousands of youth. Dan has an ability to adapt programs and share his experiences in ways that are relevant and meaningful to the youth he's teaching.
The JA Canada National Volunteer Awards were inspired by Royden Richardson, a long-time volunteer with Junior Achievement. It recognizes volunteers whose participation in, and lasting contribution to, JA and its programs locally and/or nationally has immeasurably furthered the aims and objectives of JA in Canada.
