VALCOURT, QC, June 18, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - BRP hosted nearly 850 Can-Am Spyder roadsters and more than 1,300 people this past weekend at the largest BRP-sponsored gathering of Can-Am Spyder roadsters ever assembled during the sixth annual North American Can-Am Spyder Owners Event in Maggie Valley, N.C.
"This was the largest Can-Am Spyder Owners Event since we launched the vehicle in the winter of 2007," said Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager, North America division. "The presence of so many passionate Spyder owners illustrates the health of the brand and the growing nature of our rider community."
Friday, BRP announced the winners of the customization contest and European Spyder vacation experience. Danny Webb of Lawton, Oklahoma with his hand-painted customized Spyder ST was named best-in show by a panel of BRP judges.
By far, the big winner of the night was Susette Hieronymus of South Carolina, who, out of all eligible participants at the event, was randomly chosen to win an all-expenses paid trip for two to one of the 2014 European Can-Am Roadster Owners Events to be held next summer.
"BRP's Can-Am Spyder Owners Event continues to grow year after year," Leduc added, "and with more regional Spyder events popping up in North America and around the world, people are discovering the accessibility to the open road the Spyder delivers."
Participants were treated to meals and entertainment during the two-day celebration of the three-wheeled vehicle that has reinvented the way people take to the open road. There were also demo rides of the new 2013 line-up, including the all-new Spyder ST that is designed for sport touring - perfect for the beautiful back roads of the picturesque Smoky Mountains.
The North American Can-Am Spyder Owners Event also raised US$2,500 to benefit the Haywood Christian Ministry, a local organization that helps between 700 and 800 families a month.
