Fuel Efficiency Helps Drive Sales

AJAX, ON, May 3, 2012 /CNW/ - With sales of 5,620 new vehicles, this was the most successful April in the 60 year history of Volkswagen Canada.  Year-to-date, the company has improved its results by 7.3%.  A total of 17,332 vehicles have been delivered by Volkswagen's 135 Dealers nationwide.

"Our lineup now includes vehicles for virtually all lifestyles," stated John White, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada.  "The spectacular fuel economy of our TDI Clean Diesel vehicles has struck a chord with Canadian buyers."

Leading the way for Volkswagen were sales of the Jetta.  With 2,397 sales in April, the Jetta remains one of the ten best-selling passenger cars in Canada.  Year-to-date, 7,393 Jettas have made their way into Canadian driveways.

The Golf family, which includes the classic hatchback, spacious wagon, sporty GTI and all-wheel-drive "R" model, contributed 1,265 to the company's total.  Sales of the Tiguan compact sport utility, the all-new Passat and the iconic Beetle were also very strong.

Volkswagen offers a wide variety of cars, with an even wider variety of engines, including the ultra-fuel-efficient TDI Clean Diesel.  All are well equipped, aggressively priced, and built to last.
