Record attendance for the 39th Journées dentaires internationales du Québec -
Montréal, a shining beacon for research and higher learning
MONTREAL, June 8 /CNW Telbec/ - The 39th edition of the Journées dentaires internationales du Québec (JDIQ) held last week at the Palais des congrès de Montréal was a resounding success, attracting a record number of participants topping 12,000. This unprecedented success reaffirms Montréal's status as a city of research and higher learning. Montréal was also recently named Number One North American destination for international associative events, according to the 2009 official rankings of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
The annual JDIQ, jointly organized by the ODQ order of Québec dentists and the Canadian Dental Association, is Canada's leading dental convention. "We are proud to contribute to the success of this 39th edition of the JDIQ, an event we've been hosting at the Palais since 1982," commented Marc Tremblay, President and CEO of the Palais. "We are also pleased the JDIQ is growing into an increasingly international event. Each year, we welcome over 80% of Québec's dentists, but we are also attracting more and more participants from across Canada and abroad, especially Europe and Africa," added JDIQ Director Dr Denis Forest.
Montréal, home for life sciences... and for conventions too!
"Few cities can claim such a thriving life science community, and Montréal is becoming the city of choice for medical convention planners," continued Marc Tremblay. Montréal ranks first in Canada for the number of research centres and amounts invested in university research.
The Palais continues to solidify its position as a leading host site for life sciences. Below are some of the recent and upcoming major events in this field:
