Red Cross Care Partners transitioning to single ownership

TORONTO, Sept. 26, 2014 /CNW/ - On September 26, Red Cross Care Partners (RCCP), a personal support, nursing and rehabilitative therapy company offering services to clients throughout Ontario, transitioned to 100 percent ownership by CarePartners and began operating under that name.

RCCP was established in 2012 when a portion of Red Cross personal support and homemaking services in Ontario merged with CarePartners, a nursing and therapy company in order to provide a full basket of services to clients. After much consideration by both organizations, the decision has been made to move out of the current ownership model. Red Cross and CarePartners agreed that this transition is best for the future growth of the organization and its ability to meet the needs of a growing number of Ontarians choosing to age and recover from surgery or illness in their own homes.

With the exception of the change in the company name to CarePartners, there will be no change or disruption in the services delivered to clients.

The Canadian Red Cross remains fully committed to community-based health care and intends to focus resources on opportunities where the organization can play a unique role and meet the greatest needs in our communities, particularly by leveraging its extensive network of volunteers. Under the umbrella of community health, wellness and safety, the Red Cross will continue to support people aging or recovering from surgery or illness at home through community support services including transportation, nutrition programs and personal support services, as well as invest in innovative solutions and partnerships to increase the overall health and safety of some of Ontario's most vulnerable residents.

Both CarePartners and the Canadian Red Cross remain committed to strengthening and improving access to health care where people prefer to receive it – in their own homes and communities.
